Serialised publications such as magazines and journals require an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN). To apply for an ISSN for your serial publication, visit the National Library Board website at https://www.nlb.gov.sg/depositapp/.
Once you have obtained your ISSN from the ISSN National Centre, we can generate GS1-standard barcode images in either the ISSN-13 format or the ISSN-13 + 2 format, depending on your preferences.
Supplemental Numbers for Each Issue
ISSN-13 + 2 barcodes use supplemental digits to indicate the issue of the publication. For example:
- 01–12 for each month of the year
- 01–04 for quarterly publications
ISSN-13 + 2 barcodes can be reused annually.
