The standard retail EAN-13 and UPC-A barcode numbers we supply are not suitable for books.
Books require an International Standard Book Number (ISBN), which is a range of numbers reserved specifically for print publications.
To obtain an ISBN for your publication in Singapore, you can apply through the National Library Board (NLB) at https://www.nlb.gov.sg/depositapp/.
Once you have your ISBN, you’ll need to generate an ISBN barcode image in the EAN-13 format. This barcode can then be included in your book’s cover artwork file. Properly formatted ISBN-13 images display the human-readable text both above and below the code.

For serial publications such as magazines and journals, an ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) is required instead of an ISBN.
